About writewyattuk

This is the online home of author, writer and editor Malcolm Wyatt, who has books on The Jam, Slade and The Clash under his belt and many more writing projects on the go, as well as regularly uploading feature-interviews and reviews right here. These days he's living his best life with his better half in West Cornwall after their three decades together in Lancashire, this Surrey born and bred scribe initially heading north after five years of 500-mile round-trips on the back of a Turkish holiday romance in 1989. Extremely proud of his two grown-up daughters, he's also a foster carer and a dog lover, spending any spare time outside all that catching up with other family and friends, supporting Woking FC, planning adventures and travels, further discovering his adopted county, and seeing as much of this big old world as time allows. He can be contacted at thedayiwasthere@gmail.com and various social media online portals, mostly involving that @writewyattuk handle.

Now I’ve Got a Witness – remembering The Rolling Stones’ 1960s roots with Richard Houghton

I’m not sure how old newly-published author Richard Houghton thought I was when we first spoke, but he was hoping I might fill him in with my memories of seeing The Rolling Stones at the Wooden Bridge in Guildford in … Continue reading

Highway to Hull (and back) – the Lucy Beaumont interview

After a five-year apprenticeship on the comedy circuit, it’s fair to say Lucy Beaumont is making a name for herself. Her ‘blend of surreal offbeat humour’ (as her press biog would have it) has led to several plaudits since becoming … Continue reading

Bill Bailey – Preston Guild Hall

With his Limboland tour continuing for some time yet – doing the rounds up and down the country until December’s switch to the capital – I should walk the line carefully here, not giving away too much for those yet … Continue reading

Farewell to The Dubious Brothers: reacquainting myself with Monty (part one)

Listen up. I realise it’s late notice if you didn’t already know, but this Saturday, November 14th, marks the end of an era, with the final show by The Dubious Brothers. I’ll take part of the blame – not for … Continue reading

Rise and Shine – the return of Hugh Cornwell

A quarter of a century after he left The Stranglers, Hugh Cornwell remains a regular on the live circuit – still in love with his back-catalogue, and still ticking off life ambitions. In the scheme of things, he’s been outside … Continue reading

Cast / The Sherlocks – Preston 53 Degrees

If ever there was a fear that it might just be about nostalgia with the 2015 line-up of Cast, this seminal four-piece quickly put that to bed during a stonking set in Preston. While there was no doubting the power … Continue reading
